Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
What is diversity management?
Diversity Management considers the enhancement of individual differences as a winning strategy for organizations.
In fact, the concept of “diversity” has become increasingly elastic to include personality dimensions, innate and acquired personal characteristics, and organizational dimensions.
Respecting diversity then means combining the concept of “equality” with an awareness of “difference” among individuals: with this in mind, the goal is to give everyone the same opportunities, but in a differentiated way.
Thus, an “inclusive” work environment is developed. , that is, an environment in which everyone aims to achieve organizational goals from their own “different” potential
Diversity management is a set of business practices by which equal opportunity can be promoted in the company and diversity can be enhanced within the organization. This is a strategic approach with which to create an inclusive work environment that respects diversity, understood as differences in thinking and individual characteristics. Once in place, a diversity management strategy focuses on attracting, engaging, promoting and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce in order to benefit from both the views and skills of a variety of individuals, as well as from being more representative of the society in which the company operates.
Training: diversity training programs
These are diversity and inclusion projects that provide specific training programs on inclusion and diversity awareness, which may include various activities, such as presentations, group discussions, hands-on exercises and outreach activities. They may also include individual or group coaching sessions to help participants develop the skills and knowledge needed to promote diversity and inclusion within the organization.
GSO approach
The GSO approach:
- Focuses attention on the recognition of personal characteristics in the various Diversity groups for their effective enhancement and integration in the context
- Aims to recognize through organizational “reconnaissance” what the culture of D&I (openness/closure, integration, and valuing differences) is by linking it to business and organizational history
- Develops interventions taking into account organizational, group, and business specifics
Diversity monitoring
Diversity monitoring is the process of collecting, analyzing and using data on diversity within an organization to identify any inequalities or disparities and to assess progress toward a culture of diversity and inclusion in the company, going on to identify areas for improvement.
GSO also offers individual tests and interviews to detect the characteristics of people in the organizational context
Inclusive Leadership, Values, Openness to Inclusion, Motivational Inclinations and Personal Capital (Self-efficacy, resilience, flexibility, optimism, etc.).
