Our servicesDevelopment center: what is it about?
Development Center, often abbreviated to “DC,” is a personnel evaluation technique that aims to invest in the company’s human capital. This is an effective method for Promote self-development and professional growth Of individuals within organizations. Its main goal is to develop individual skills, rather than simply making static assessments.
In fact, Development (“development”) activities focus on using assessment results to provide training courses and targeted projects to further improve employees’ professional performance and skills to enable them to reach their full potential.
What are the advantages of a Development Centre process for a company?

- A resulting increased loyalty to the company, which reduces turnover.
- A better work environment and an inclusive and cohesive corporate culture that promotes collaboration in order to achieve shared goals.
- Increased efficiency and productivity in order to achieve business goals.
What are the skills detectable through the Development Center?
These are some of the attitudes and skills that can be assessed and improved through Development Center activities:
- Leadership skills and style
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective Communication
- Problem Solving Aptitude
- Digital Mindset and Digital Competencies

How the Development Center Works
The Development Center can be aimed at a single participant or a group of people, even large ones. The length of the process varies depending on the number of participants and the number of tests to be taken.
The project is constructed from the specific competencies you wish to assess (from those listed above or additional ones). Throughout the unfolding, care must be taken to keep the values and corporate culture of the organizing organization in mind at all times.
During a Development Center, employees are evaluated through a series of exercises, simulations, and behavioral assessments, similar to those used in an Assessment Center. However, the main objective is to Identify areas of strength and weakness of the employee in order to improve existing skills or develop new ones.
The tests used during this procedure are intended not only for verification purposes, but also to provide concrete opportunities in which employees are to test their behaviors and skills in real-life contexts and possibly corrective from an operational and motivational point of view.
Development Center tests include:
- Psychometric tests of values, logic and cognitive nature
- Individual exercises and tests such as simulations, questionnaires and individual interviews
- Group exercises of different types
The importance of Feedback in the Development Center system
A key element of the Development Center is feedback: being focused on the growth, the activities of the Development Center are based primarily on confacing with one’s colleagues and becoming aware of one’s own performance, through constructive commentaries from other members of the organization, or from expertise outside the team itself.
Feedback is therefore the basis for planning individual development plans, aimed at improving not only performance, but also motivation and enthusiasm.
What is the difference between Assessment Center and Development Center
Assessment Center and Development Center are often confused with each other: both are valuable tools in the field of human resource management, sharing some psychometric tools useful in assessing and developing the skills of employees or candidates. But the two methodologies follow different approaches, and are used in different contexts and with different goals.
While theAssessment Center is mainly oriented toward personnel selection and identifying the best candidates for a given role, the Development Center is focused on the development of existing employees to help them improve their skills and reach their maximum potential.
The Assessment Center is thus a tool primarily for the use of recruiters, while the Development Center can be managed independently by the resources who participate in it.
As further differences it can be pointed out that while in the Assessment Center there is a single follow-up with final diagnosis, shared at the end of the test, and no (or at least very limited) self-diagnosis is provided, in the Development Center the diagnosis is shared throughout the training, with ample room for both self-diagnosis and discussion and comparison.
